Jamie Finn

Director

You may recognise Jamie from our sister shop Village Music, but you might not know he is director of the Village School of Music. He is also responsible for the yearly concerts and the student videos and recordings.

Drumming from the age of 8, Jamie studied under Alan Gregory and Sandro Ciancio - but states he learned the most from his dad Colin. Jamie currently plays drums with alternative/ dream-pop outfit - Le Thug (Song by Toad Records).

Throughout his musical career he has been lucky enough to tour the UK and Europe playing big band Jazz, and with electro-rock act Kobai (Fabtone Records - Japan). Highlights include live sessions on BBC Radio 1, Real Radio, XFM, and playing alongside Twin Atlantic, Supergrass, Dirty Pretty Things at festivals Live at Loch Lomond, the Wickerman and T in the Park.

In teaching, Jamie believes that mastering an instrument takes dedication and hard work, but first and foremost it should be enjoyable. “The more fun you have learning - the more you'll play. The more you play - the quicker you progress. As tutors it is our job to make learning fun and deliver the information in an engaging manner.”
