Our guitar and bass tutor - and captain of RockClub - Michael Smith, is another hugely talented multi-instrumentalist. Michael started playing drums and guitar at the tender age of 10 and has been fixated with all things rock ever since.

 

When not practicing mind-bending, prog-rock riffs, Michael is the lead guitarist in his successful band, The Detours, who shot to fame after appearing on channel 4’s Orange Unsigned Act in 2008, and winning Live and Unsigned in 2009.

 

Now signed to Contraflow Records the Detours music videos can been seen on Kerrang TV, as the band regularly play the UK’s most prestigious venues and festivals alongside huge names in rock and metal such as Europe, Yashin, The Answer and Slaves to Gravity.

 

Michael’s phenomenal musical ability and easy-going personality have earned him great admiration from all his students, young and old.
