Andrew Cowan

BA Hons

GuitarTutor

As a young teenager Andrew was the first guitarist to be accepted to the RSAMD (now RCS) Junior Academy of Music, where attended music lessons for 4 years. After school he was accepted as an undergraduate on the RSAMD BMus course, specialising in classical guitar under Philip Thorne and Allan Neave.

Throughout his time at RSAMD Andrew became interested in jazz, and after his third year of classical studies he was accepted onto Strathclyde University's BA Applied Music course. Here he spent another three years, this time specialising in jazz and graduating with honours in 2013.

Very active on the Glasgow music scene, Andrew has performed concerts in a wide range of different styles; from classical guitar recitals, to big band concerts, to pop and rock gigs on the indie scene.

Andrew currently records and tours with Glasgow-based Jazz-Fusion collective Fat-Suit, and also plays regularly all over the country with a busy wedding/function band.

MUST WATCH. Please take 30 seconds to watch the clip below of Andrew absolutely ripping the solo to Michael Jackson's 'Beat It' with his band Fat Suit!
